I am not sure where the original design came from, but the earliest examples I have seen have been German. It seems like Japan and a few other countries might have copied it after the war, but the original German ones are far more hefty. This could still be used, but the canvas would probably eventually give out.

The blanket is very beautiful and incredibly soft — exactly as described, and perfect for a baby. However, the packaging is a big downside. To secure the large cardboard with the prominent logo, the product used an excessive number of plastic tag fasteners. It took quite a while to carefully remove them all. If any small piece is accidentally left behind, it could pose a serious hazard for babies, as they might easily swallow it. Overall, great product quality, but the packaging design could be much safer and more thoughtful.
